Why Idea Competitions Are Better than Shark Tank
Every entrepreneur dreams of the opportunity to pitch his or her business idea to a group of high-powered investors. But few are lucky enough to do it on Shark Tank, the popular reality TV show where budding entrepreneurs present their business ideas to an impressive panel of judges in the hopes that one or more will invest in them.
Over the years, several contestants have attracted million-dollar investments from the sharks. For example, entrepreneur Charles Michael Yim lined up $1 million in funding for his company Breathometer, which makes smartphone breathalyzers. But for all the excitement and glamour, Shark Tank has one major flaw – most contestants walk away empty handed, not knowing where to go or what to do next.
Try an Idea Competition
Fortunately, there’s a less stressful and more effective alternative to Shark Tank – an Ideator idea competition. In virtual contests hosted on our platform, entrepreneurs post their ideas and compete against each other for various prizes such as cash, free consulting, or other useful business development services.
Unlike Shark Tank, the ideas don’t live or die by the judges’ decision. Instead, they keep going, no matter what anyone else thinks. And even when ideas don’t win, Ideator still provides the resources to keep developing them and turn them into viable businesses.
This December, Ideator is hosting The Ideator December Challenge idea competition. Five finalists will compete for $10,000 plus Ideator advisory board access, free tols from Ideator sponsors, and access to key mentors and investors.
In this competition, we’re looking for the biggest ideas with the best-defined roadmaps to success. Click on the link to see the entry rules and judging criteria.
Where Ideas Come to Life
Idea competitions may not have the glitter and glamour of Shark Tank. After all, who could turn down the opportunity to pitch an idea to panelist Mark Cuban on live TV? But the reality is that for all but a few, Shark Tank is a place where business ideas go to die.
At Ideator, we help bring your idea to life through a technology platform that assists in organizing, developing, and preparing your business idea for the real world. Once you have the idea squared away, we provide the feedback, networking, and resources to help you make it happen.
If you’re looking to see how your idea matches up against other potential business startups, sign up for one or both of our contests. Even if you don’t win, it’s a starting point, not an ending, for your idea. And if you decide to keep moving forward with your idea, we’ll be here to help you every step of the way.
