At Techcrunch Disrupt San Francisco I met the team at Ideator.

I was at the event in late September working as a security guard. I’m an EMT and a nursing student. I received my college degree 15 years ago from Stanford and I am currently making a career change from nonprofit grant writing to nursing.  I am a single parent to Emmanuel and his brother, and nonprofit salaries are not compatible with single parenting.

My son Emmanuel, who is 12 years old and blind, has had an idea for an app for some time now.  The app would allow visually impaired people to order food at restaurants.

Ideator, Inc. Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy governs the collection and use of personal data by and through the Ideator platform and website (Ideator.com), an online platform and network for entrepreneurship education.

Definitions

In this document:

“We”, “us”, “our”, and “Ideator” all refer to Ideator, Inc.

“Site” and “website” refer to Ideator.com, including all of its subdomains. pages, and resources thereon
“You” and “your” refer to any user of the Site

Collection of your Personal Data

Ideator collects certain personal data from you in order to provide you with our services. This may include, but is not limited to, your name, email address, mailing address, and phone number. You are not required to provide such data. If you elect not to enter certain personal data, it may however limit your ability to access our Site or services.

We also collect certain other information automatically that is not linked to your account or profile. This information may include, but is not limited to, such things as your operating system, browser type, IP address, domain names, referring website addresses, and access times. We use this information to improve the quality of our services and for general statistical purposes.

Please be aware that any personal data or information you disclose through Ideator’s public message boards or other public comments may be collected and used by others, and is not covered by this Privacy Policy.

We may provide links to third-party websites that have their own privacy statements different from ours. It is your responsibility to understand what data they collect and how they do so before using those sites. Ideator is not responsible for any privacy statements or other content on third party websites accessed from our Site. Also, we are not responsible for the collection and use of your data by such third parties.

Also, we contract with partners who provide us platforms we need to deliver our services and support tools (our “Trusted Partners”). In order for our services to function on these platforms, we have to provide certain of your data to such Trusted Partners. Use of your Personal Data

Ideator collects and uses your personal data in order to operate its website and to deliver the services you have requested.

Ideator will also use your personal data in order to provide you with information regarding other services or products available from Ideator and its affiliated entities (with your consent, if required by law). We may also use your personal data to contact you through surveys in order to research your opinions about our current services or potential new services. Each communication sent by Ideator will include an unsubscribe / opt-out option.

Ideator does not sell, lease, or rent our customer lists or personal data to third parties.

We will also share your personal data with Ideator’s employees, contractors and other third-party service providers for the purposes of providing customer support, arranging for deliveries, sending you email or postal mail related to their services, or performing statistical analysis. Our agreements with those third parties prohibit them from using your personal data for any other purpose than providing these services to Ideator, and requires them to maintain the confidentiality of your personal data.

Any personal data submitted through Ideator may be shared (with your consent, if required by law) with the company, university, or other institution with which you are associated, or with the organization that supports the entrepreneurial program in which you participate. The recipient institution or organization has its own privacy practices and data control systems which apply to any of your personal data held by that institution or organization, including personal data shared by Ideator. Consult the institution or organization if you have any questions about its privacy practices.
Under certain circumstances, Ideator may be required to share your personal data in order to: (a) comply with applicable laws or lawful requests and legal processes; (b) defend and protect Ideator’s rights and property, including intellectual property; (c) act under exigent circumstances to prevent physical or other harm or financial loss; or (d) handle an investigation of suspected or actual illegal activity.

We also may share your personal data with other parties and for other purposes with your consent. We reserve the right to transfer any personal data we have about you in the event we sell or transfer all or a portion of our business or assets (including in the event of a merger, acquisition, joint venture, reorganization, divestiture, dissolution or liquidation).

Your name and email address may be used by community administrators on Ideator in order to invite you to participate in a specific community. In such instances where it is a student being invited to participate in a community provided by a school or university, that personal data is protected by the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). If you accept an invitation to join an Ideator community, you acknowledge that your name and email is being used with your permission in association with that community. Rights

In accordance with applicable law, you have the right to request access to and receive details about the personal data we maintain about you. You also have the right to have your personal data rectified, blocked or deleted if the data is incorrect, incomplete, inaccurate or outdated. Ethnicity Data

If you provide personal data regarding your ethnicity (“Ethnicity Data”) in connection with Ideator services, and have explicitly consented to its collection, then that Ethnicity Data will be collected, stored, transferred, and processed in substantially the same manner as any other personal data under the terms of this privacy policy. Any and all references to personal data in this document reference your Ethnicity Data as well, if applicable. By clicking the “I have read and agree to the Ideator Privacy Policy” box on our Sign Up page, you are explicitly consenting to the use of your Ethnicity Data as described in this Privacy Policy.

Transfer of Personal Data

Your personal data may be transferred to Ideator in the U.S., and service providers and others around the world, including countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA) that have not been recognized by the European Commission as providing for an adequate level of data protection. When we transfer your personal data to these countries, Ideator will take steps to ensure that your personal data is protected according to the terms of this Privacy Policy. By clicking the “I have read and agree to the Ideator Privacy Policy” box on our Sign Up page, you are explicitly consenting to the transfer of your personal data on this basis, including to service providers and others located outside the EEA.

Use of Cookies

“Cookies” are small text files that get stored on your computer when you access a web page server. Cookies are text only, and cannot be used to deliver viruses, run programs, or otherwise affect your computer. Cookies can only be read by a web server in the same domain that issued that cookie to you, and each one is uniquely assigned.

Ideator may use cookies to improve your experience on our Site and to provide you with certain services. Because the cookie uniquely identifies your computer, the Ideator Site can use it to identify you, keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and personalize your experience. Cookies also allow us to retrieve personal data stored on our secure servers so that it does not need to be re-entered every time, such as billing addresses and shipping addresses.

This site uses AdWords Remarketing, which is a Remarketing and Behavioral Targeting service provided by Google. It connects the activity of ideator.com, with the Adwords advertising network and the Doubleclick Cookie.
Ideator.com also uses the Google Analytics cookie that tracks behavior on the Ideator.com platform.
In the use of both Google Adwords & Google Analytics, Ideator does not collect or process personally identifiable information from the user and transfer it to Google as a third-party processor. Google, as the third-party processor does collect unidentifiable data on behalf of Ideator, but is limited to:

  • Device
  • Interests
  • Geographic Location
  • Gender
  • Age

Ideator will retain only active user data. Ideator user data by way of Google will be deleted after 26 months of inactivity on Ideator.com. Any interaction with Ideator.com constitutes an active user, and thus extending the retention of user data until 26 months has elapsed.

Security of your Personal Data

Ideator takes steps to secure your personal data from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. We do not retain your credit card information.

Children Under Sixteen

Ideator does not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of sixteen. If you are under the age of sixteen, you must get permission from your parent or guardian before using this website.

Disconnecting your Ideator Account from Third Party Websites

You may at your option connect your Ideator account to certain other third party accounts. You acknowledge and agree that by connecting your Ideator account to any third party account, you thereby consent to the ongoing and continuous release of any and all personal data about you to those third parties. The third party accounts may operate independently from us. The privacy practices of the relevant third parties, including details on the information they collect about you, is subject to the privacy statements of those third parties, which we strongly suggest you review. To the extent any third party accounts are not owned or controlled by us, Ideator is not responsible for the third parties’ information practices. If you do not wish Ideator to share this information about you in this manner, including personal data, do not use this feature. You may use your profile settings at any time to disconnect your account from a third party account.

Opt-Out And Unsubscribe

From time to time, Ideator may send you announcements or other information about our services or those of our partners or affiliates if you have consented to receive such announcements or information, where required by applicable law. If you do not wish to receive such announcements, or any other communications from Ideator, you may opt out at any time by contacting us through support.ideator.com or by clicking on the unsubscribe link in each communication.

Changes to this Statement

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for various reasons, such as customer feedback or the addition or removal of services, with or without direct prior notice.
